The site forms part of the historic centre of Greenwich directly opposite Hawksmoor’s St Alphage Church. It is at present largely vacant with a haphazard mix of buildings of little or no architectural merit. These proposals re-integrate the site into the fabric of the centre of Greenwich with a new retail area including a new public shopping arcade leading through the site, together with 129 units of new housing over the shopping arranged around a new garden courtyard. Our intention is to recreate the original urban form with a lively outward facing scheme and new animated street frontages.
