Following a limited competition, Sidell Gibson was invited to prepare a redevelopment strategy for a commercial site in the centre of Hamburg. The scheme involved the remodelling of an existing 19th century Kontorhaus, one of the huge trading houses lining the waterfront, and the introduction of a new city arcade. New public facilities are provided within the arcade including Government offices, theatre and leisure facilities. A new 5 star Hyatt hotel with 281 rooms has been established with self contained restaurants and conferencing as part of the complex. The work was carried out for the Bach Family Trust via our Berlin office SGS Architekten.
