Richard Brearley RIBA FRSA
Richard Brearley has over 25 years design experience as a partner at John Miller + Partners in arts and cultural building, education and housing prior to teaming up with Sidell Gibson. Many of his projects have gained design awards, including RIBA and Civic Trust Awards. He has also lectured externally at numerous Universities, and was an External Examiner at the University of Manchester and is currently an RIBA Competitions Adviser. He became a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in 2009.
Issues of energy conservation and sustainability are important parts of Richard’s work, ranging from social housing projects for Milton Keynes such as the ‘Energy World Exhibition’ to education and arts projects. These include the award winning Elizabeth Fry Building for the University of East Anglia, which resulted in it being cited as an example of ‘Best Practice’ by the Department of Trade and Industry. Most recently the design of Brindley Arts Centre in Runcorn, Cheshire was recognized as a model of regeneration and sustainability, winning the Civic Trust ‘Vision’ Award for the best regeneration project in a Town or City Centre.
Richard became a partner with Sidell Gibson in 2006, following the practice's collaboration agreement with John Miller & Partners Architects.
